False twist operation

The most important recent development, applied for the manufacture of about 90% of textured filaments, utilizes a process based on torsion mechanical-thermal procedures. The operation consists of three basic steps high-twist twisting, fixation of the twist, and detwisting of the twist. A second development combined drawing and texturing in one operation for an undrawn or a partially drawn yarn. In this, the yarn is drawn-cum-tex-tured either sequentially (first passed through a draw zone and then into a texturing zone - false- twist or air-jet) or simultaneously. Both processes are economically superior to the earlier discontinuous process and yield yarns that are of significantly higher quality.
