It was found that polar carotenoids exert a reinforcement effect on lipid bilayer formed with saturated lipids. No effect was observed for natural EYPC membranes. The reinforcement of the membrane observed was also reported to depend strongly on the adjustment of the length of the carotenoid molecule and the thickness of the hydrophobic core of the membrane (Lazrak et al.,... [Pg.374]
