Extraction structured packing

The turn-key multipurpose high pressure pilot unit shown in picture 1 can be used for the continuous extraction of liquid products in a column with structured packings and for the batch extraction of solids in a extraction vessel. It is assembled using the following proven basic modules (see also figure 1) ... 

Static extraction columns Spray column Baffle column Packed column (random and structured packing) Sieve tray column Deliver low to medium mass-transfer efficiency, simple construction (no internal moving parts), low capital cost, low operating and maintenance costs, best suited to systems with low to moderate interfacial tension, can handle high production rates Petrochemical Chemical Food... 

The internals used in extraction columns consist of randomly filled or stacked packing elements or structured packings, mostly made of ceramic, metal or plastic, as shown in Fig. l-2a or l-2b. 

It was the objective of this book to present a uniform calculation model, based on previous publications [1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15], which is applicable to any type of column internal and can be used to determine the main dimensions of extraction columns equipped with modern random or structured packings. They apply to randomly filled packing elements (Fig. l-2a), stacked and structured packings or tube columns (Fig. l-2b), which were tested using various systems, see Table 7-1.
