Expected Familiarization by Co-workers

New employees are likely to hold expectations about the degree to which coworkers will help them become familiarized with aspects of the workplace. As discussed in Chap. 7, new employees go through a period of adaption when they enter a new job, and part of the process of adapting is the acquisition of familiarity

The expected familiarization by co-workers scale has 4 items, and both versions are shown in Table 9.1. At this time, the scale has not been used in published research. Unpublished analysis of 144 new employee responses produced a Cronbach s alpha of 0.77.
