Existing Levels of Asset Protection

The occupational safety manager can utilize the concept of levels of protection to gain an understanding of occupational safety needs by forming needs into three general categories  [Pg.27]

Existing level of protection the degree of occupational safety provided by countermeasures to an asset currently being utilized at an organization [Pg.27]

The existing level of protection may be determined through site surveys, interviews, reviews of policies and procedures, testing, and so on to determine what countermeasures are currently in place and how effective they are. Current conditions may then be matched up against the existing level of protection and then compared to the necessary level of protection to determine if the current level adequately addresses the threat(s) or if vulnerabilities need to be addressed. [Pg.27]
