Eutectic growth

Eutectic growth is a special mode of solidification for a two-component system. Operating near a specific point in the phase diagram, it shows some unique features [121,137].

The above classification scheme can also be applied to two-phase growth ( ). When both phases are low entropy-change the growth kinetics are unimportant and diffusion dominates. Eutectic growth axes correspond to well-defined crystallographic directions and crystallographic relations between phases, which are unique in most systems.
