Ether ethyleneglycol

A remarkable ring enlargement reaction was observed when the diketone, IX/17, (Scheme IX/3) was kept under acetalization conditions (BF3-etherate/ ethyleneglycol) [7]. The seven-membered IX/201 was isolated in 98% yield. Probably this reaction is restricted to five- to seven-membered ring enlarge-ment2). [Pg.201]

Triiodobenzoates. The derivatives enumerated above are unsatisfactory for alcohol - ethers, e.g., the mono-ethers of ethyleneglycol ( cellosolves ) and the mono-ethers of diethyleneglycol ( car-bitols ) (see Table 111,27). Crystalline derivatives of alcohol - ethers are readily obtained with 3 4 5-triiodobenzoyl chloride (for preparation, see Section VII,21), for example ... [Pg.265]

Ethers, esters, amides and imidazolidines containing an epithio group are said to be effective in enhancing the antiwear and extreme pressure peiformance of lubricants. Other uses of thiiranes are as follows fuel gas odorant (2-methylthiirane), improvement of antistatic and wetting properties of fibers and films [poly(ethyleneglycol) ethers of 2-hydroxymethyl thiirane], inhibition of alkene metathesis (2-methylthiirane), stabilizers for poly(thiirane) (halogen adducts of thiiranes), enhancement of respiration of tobacco leaves (thiirane), tobacco additives to reduce nicotine and to reduce phenol levels in smoke [2-(methoxymethyl)thiirane], stabilizers for trichloroethylene and 1,1,1-trichloroethane (2-methylthiirane, 2-hydroxymethylthiirane) and stabilizers for organic compounds (0,0-dialkyldithiophosphate esters of 2-mercaptomethylthiirane). The product of the reaction of aniline with thiirane is reported to be useful in the flotation of zinc sulfide. [Pg.184]

The eluate was shaken with Na2C03 (to remove any remaining acidic impurities), washed with water, and stored with CaCl2 in a dark bottle [Tuck J Chem Soc 3202 1957]. [Pg.194]

Solla-Gullon et al. [Ill] carried out FT-IRs experiments of adsorbed CO for PdPt nanoparticles prepared by reduction of H2PtCl6 and K2PdCl4 with hydrazine in a w/o microemulsion of water/poly(ethyleneglycol) dodecyl ether (BRIJ(R)30)/ -heptane. The experiments gave information on the relative amount of linear- and bridge-bonded CO, which is known to depend on the surface distribution of the two elements. [Pg.64]

Spacers are sometimes attached on particles prior to immobilization of functional components in order to eliminate steric hindrance from the functional components and make them mobile. Spacer molecules have to have a proper chain length and affinity with the dispersant but not with the particle. The latter condition is necessary to prevent the train conformation of spacer on the particle surface. Ethyleneglycol diglycidyl ether satisfies the prerequisite in water and is attached to aminecarrying particles. [Pg.650]
