Esterification erucic acid

Glyceryl Behenate Glyceryl behenate is a mixture of glycerides of fatty acids which is obtained by esterification of glycerin with behenic acid. It may also contain arachidic acid, stearic acid, erucic acid, lignoceric acid, and palmitic acid. It is available as a waxy mass or powder, possesses a faint odor, and is white in color. It is... [Pg.298]

Where low erucic acid rapeseed oil has been subject to any process of esterification or to processing which alters its fatty acid composition or its consistency, the name low erucic acid rapeseed oil or any synonym shall not be used unless qualified to indicate the nature of the process. [Pg.122]

Figure 1 shows that erucic acid is poorly metabolized by isolated hepatocytes from normal rats in comparison with palmitate. However, in hepatocytes from rats adapted to clofibrate diets, the oxidation of erucic acid was increased and about as rapid as the oxidation of palmitate. Esterification was also increased. [Pg.100]
