Ernst v. Merck

May In Ernst v. Merck, a Texas woman sues Merck, maker of the pain reliever Vioxx, claiming that the drug caused the fatal heart attack of her husband at age 59. 

May 14 A Texas appeals court overturns the jury verdict of Ernst v. Merck. The jury had ruled against Merck, the maker of Vioxx, but the appeals court concludes that the evidence is insufficient to show that the drug caused the death of the husband of the woman who sued.
