Concurrent use is usually safe and effective, and there are only a handful of reports of adverse interactions. It was suggested that at least one of these could have been due to the ergotamine alone (i.e. ergotism). However, it would clearly be prudent to be extra alert for any signs of an adverse response, particularly those suggestive of reduced peripheral circulation (coldness, numbness or tingling of the hands and feet).
