Equatorial region

The turnover time of water vapor in the atmosphere obviously is a function of latitude and altitude. In the equatorial regions, its turnover time in the atmosphere is a few days, while water in the stratosphere has a turnover time of one year or more. Table 7-1 Qunge, 1963) provides an estimate of the average residence time for water vapor for various latitude ranges in the troposphere. Given this simple picture of vertical structure, motion, transport, and diffusion, we can proceed to examine the behavior of... [Pg.141]

Fig. 8-5 Soil and soil forming processes - a global view. The moisture and temperature regimes are generalized and intended only to show major pedoclimatic environments. Spodosols, for example, can also occur in a cryic regime and even in equatorial regions. Other orders could also occur in more than one moisture and temperature environment. (overleaf)... Fig. 3 Due to the anisotropic distribution of the electron density, halogen atoms show a negative electrostatic potential and a larger radius (rmax) in the equatorial region and a positive electrostatic potential and a smaller radius (rmjn) in the polar region. As already outlined, the anion B2oHi82 can be synthesized by oxidizing B 0H 02 with Fe3+. In principle this anion can form three geometrical isomers the 1,1-isomer with a B-B bond between two axial boron atoms of two B10 clusters (a,a-isomer), the 1,2-isomer with a B-B bond between axial boron atoms and a B atom from the equatorial region of the second B10 unit (a,e-isomer), and a 2,2-isomer (e,e-isomer). These are shown in Figure 2.1-43. [Pg.80]

A toxicant worthy of note is one which occurs primarily in Caribbean fishes and is known as ciguatera toxin. As many as three hundred t pes of fishes from the Caribbean and equatorial regions of the Pacific Ocean have been found to contain this toxin (15). [Pg.65]
