Epizoanthus arenaceus

Cariello, L., Crescenzi, S., Prota, G. and Zanetti, L., Zoanthoxanthins of a new structural type from Epizoanthus arenaceus (Zoantharia), Tetrahedron, 30, 4194, 1974. [Pg.28]

From Epizoanthus arenaceus, another zoanthid closely related to P. axinellae, four new fluorescent pigments were isolated (201). Two possess the same skeleton as the previously described zoanthoxanthins. They are epizoanthoxanthin A (149) and B (150). The remaining two were characterized by an isomeric tetrazacyclopentazulene skeleton. The structures for the two compounds, pseudozoanthanoxanthin (151) and norpseudozoanthoxanthin (152), were proposed on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence. [Pg.319]
