Eosin stock

Eosin Y working solution 0.25% 250 ml eosin stock solution, 750 ml 80% ethanol, 5 ml glacial acetic acid. Store at room temperature.

Fig. lb presents optical density spectra of bottom and top PGFs as well as absorption and fluorescence spectra of eosine aqueous solution (6x 1 O m/1). There is the spectra overlap of both PSFs and eosine molecules absorption (Fig. lb, spectra 1-3). Eosine fluorescence band is located in the Stockes range of both PSFs. The maximal optical densities of bottom and top PSF are equal to 0.70 and 0.20, correspondingly. 

Prepare a 20 mM (—15 mg/ml) stock solution of eosine in DMF just prior to its use. Shield the container from light by wrapping it in aluminium foil. 

Eosin Y stock solution 1% 10 g eosin Y (Sigma), 200 ml water, 800 ml 95% ethanol, stir until eosin is dissolved. Store in the dark at room temperature. 

Xanthates may be determined in flotation liquids< ) by utilizing a stock solution consisting of 0-05 N sodium hydroxide, 0-1 N potassimn chloride and 0-001 M eosin. The presence of eosin counteracts the adsorption and extends the useful concentration range of 0-05 mM to 2-5 mM solutions. The anodic waves of the xanthates, corresponding to a mercury salt formation are recorded at —0-3 to —0-4 V.
