Environmental Fate of Biodegradation Intermediates

Once the extracellular polymer intermediates released during biodegradation have been identified, definition of their fate and behaviour in the environment becomes necessary for the evaluation of their ecotoxicological impact. As explained in the introduction, for the creation of an evaluation scheme suitable for biodegradation intermediates, the European Regulation REACH has been taken as a reference. 

The same approach is suggested to be adopted in the scheme outlined below.
