Work, Energy and Power

Energy and work are interchangeable, and various terms and conversion factors are in common usage throughout the world today. These conversion factors are equivalencies unrelated to operational efficiencies because practical energy and work conversions are never 100% efficient. [Pg.10]

Energy is the capacity for doing work and overcoming inertia, either by heat, light, radiation or mechanical and chemical forces. [Pg.10]

Potential energy is the energy that is due to the position of one body relative to another, whereas kinetic energy is manifested by bodies in motion. [Pg.10]

Work (W) is the transference of energy from one body to another and is expressed as the product of the force (J) and the displacement or distance (d) it can be expressed as  [Pg.10]

Force is anything that changes or can change the state of rest or motion of a body it is expressed as the product of mass (m) and acceleration, divided by a proportionality constant (gc)  [Pg.10]
