Interestingly, besides the well-known classical resolutions, a significant progress in the field of cinchona-based enantioseparation and their use as enantioselective analytical tools has been made in the last two decades only. This chapter reviews and summarizes analytical applications of the cinchona alkaloids and their derivatives, with the emphasis on modern enantioselective chromatographic techniques. 

An emerging area of modem enantioselective analytics is the development of dedicated, target-specific molecular tools that meet the criteria of being robust, high throughput, and specific [105]. Important groups of such tools constitute chiral artificial sensors and receptors as well as polymer-based chiral materials, such as... 

In the author s opinion the most useful application of molecular modeling and molecular mechanics calculations to enantioselective analyte-CyD interactions would be a computation of individual intermolecular forces based on the structure, dynamics, and population of the complexes determined by instrumental techniques. Researchers working on molecular modeling of enantioselective CyD-chiral analyte interactions may use CE as a very powerful experimental technique for evaluating the reliability of their calculations. This may significantly contribute to further refinement of calculation techniques. 

The innovations in Es-GC analysis have concerned not only the development and applications of distinct CSPs but also the development of distinct enantioselective analytical techniques, such as Es-GC-MS, Es-GC-0, enantioselective multidimensional GC (Es-MDGC), Es-MDGC-MS, Es-GC hyphenated to isotopic ratio mass spectrometry (Es-GC-IRMS), and Es-MDGC-IRMS.
