Embedded lead users - a gap in the literature

To summarize, I find that many of the papers in the field of user innovation, lead users, and user entrepreneurship are focusing on the characteristics of innovating users and lead users (Clusters 1 and 7.2). Others are mainly Involved with the question how 22 [Pg.22]

In the last chapter I have explained central tenets of user innovation and explored which different research streams and clusters constitute the field. I find that research on embedded lead users is very scarce, if not non-existent. In the following chapter I will discuss why, from a conceptual standpoint, lead users can also be located inside of firms and why this phenomenon merits further research. [Pg.24]

Three principles can be extracted from above argumentation that help to structure type of knowledge, boundaries of the Arm, and loci of innovation into a single framework  [Pg.25]

For innovation to happen, need and solution knowdedge have to be collocated (Alexander 1964 von Hippel 1994] [Pg.25]

There has been a debate in research, whether knowledge is located at collective or individual level (Felin and Hesterly 2007 Felin and Spender 2009 Foss 1996). In this chapter I will, as already mentioned in 1.1.3, take the perspective that knowledge resides with individuals and organization knowledge is an outcome thereof. Nonetheless, 1 will sometimes refer to the firm, which consists of Individuals with heterogeneously distributed knowledge (Felin and Hesterly 2007], [Pg.25]
