There are various broad classifications of rheology. In this text we shall use the broad classifications of shear and elongation rheology. 

In elongational rheology the material is subject to stretching (elongational) deformation and elongational rheological properties are determined, Figure 3.64. 

Many commercial rheometers are available both for shear and for elongation rheology. For an intensive review the reader is referred to Macosko (1994). In summary, Figure 3.80...
