Electrosynthesis of organometallic compounds

3 Electrosynthesis of organometallic compounds The electrosynthesis of tetraethyllead, which has been carried out on [Pg.209]

The ntetallic magnesium liberated at the cathode reacts with excess ethyl chloride to form EtMgCl, which continues the reaction. The chemical yield of tetraethyllead is ca. 96%. The anodic reactions involved in the formation of the metal-carbon bonds in this and related processes occur by radical mechanisms. An electros)mthesis of [FeCp2] was reported, Eq. 7.18  [Pg.210]

The electrolysis of MCp (M = Li, Na, K) in tetrahydrofuran or pyridine solution at a dissolving manganese anode similarly produces [MnCp2l. The nickel(II) complex, [NiCp2], has also been obtained in this manner.  [Pg.210]

Problems reviewed include the electrosynthesis of organometallic compounds and electrolytic oxidation of organic substances in fuel cells. Also considered are the possibilities of using electrochemical methods to investigate catalytic processes in solutions and electrochemical gentidiion of free radicals. [Pg.446]
