Having briefly introduced electroluminescence in conjugated polymers is this section, in the rest of the chapter we survey some of the aspects of the physics of the device operation that have been established since 1990. We do not attempt to provide a summary of all the contributions made by the many groups that have been active in the field, and we have often selected work that we are most familiar with—that originating from Cambridge.
