Electrodeposition of silicon in molten NaF-KF-K2SiF6 mixtures

4 Electrodeposition of silicon in molten NaF-KF-K2SiF6 mixtures 7.8.4.1 Nucleation [Pg.586]

The first stage of a deposition is nucleation from the reduced species formed at the cathode and which create the nuclei by coalescence. Nucleation studies were fully done by our group on various elecfrodeposited metals Ta [9], Nb [10], U [11] and C [12]. They provide a lot of information on the growth of the coating, such as the nucleation mode, the nuclei number, the influence of the temperature and so on. [Pg.586]

Here we summarize the conclusions of our work, detailed in Ref. [14], on the nucleation system  [Pg.586]

Part (I). Treatment leads, by the linearity of plotting to an instantaneous nucleation, while [Pg.586]

Parts (II) and (III). Scharifker and Hills [4] established a model based on a dimensional intensity [Pg.586]
