Approximately two-thirds of all pressure sores occur on the sacrum and heels. The remaining third occur predominately on the elbows, ankles, trochanters, ischia, knees, scapulas, shoulders, or occiput.35 Pressure sores are classified according to the extent of tissue destruction.40 The staging of pressure sores is presented in Table 70-7. [Pg.1084]

The Matsuzaka Elbow-Jet classifier (Fig. 11) is based on a transverse flow principle (26). The stream of feed particles are accelerated to minimize the effect of gravity, and introduced into an air jet at right angles. The particles are fanned out in the classification zone with the trajectories for particles of the same hydrodynamic behavior, ie, size and shape, being the same. Classification is achieved by mounting one or more cutters in the classification zone, thus dividing the feed into two or more fractions. A stream of fine particles of less than 5 Jm can be produced in this manner. [Pg.441]

Metaphyseal fractures can be classified according to mechanism of injury. The majority of injuries occur with the elbow in extension, the olecranon locked in the olecranon fossa and the maximum stress developed in the proximal metaphyseal region leading to fracture. When a valgus stress is applied, there may be asso ciated compression fractures of the radial neck and avulsion of the medial epicondyle. Varus stress is associated with radial head subluxation. [Pg.278]
