Elasticity Gibbs coefficient

The Gibbs coefficient of elasticity, e, was introduced as a variable resistance to surface deformation during thinning ... [Pg.330]

The determination of flow control coefficients is difficult, and requires the independent variation of the activity of all the enzymes within the pathway. Based on linear nonequilibrium thermodynamics, the kinetics of enzyme reactions can be described by the linear functions of the change in Gibbs free energy. This yields a direct relation between the elasticity coefficients and the change in Gibbs free energy for the reactions in a simple two-step pathway. [Pg.559]

FIGURE 5.6 (a) Plot of the slope coefficient 5, vs. the surfactant (DDBS) concentration the points are the values of 5, for the curves in Figure 5.5 the fine is the theoretical curve obtained using the procedure described after Equation 5.85 (no adjustable parameters), (b) Plots of the relaxation time and the Gibbs elasticity vs. the DDBS concentration is computed from the equilibrium surface tension isotherm = n (S, /Eq) is calculated using the above values of 5,. [Pg.170]

The Gibbs effect can be evaluated quantitatively. Gibbs defined a coefficient of surface elasticity E as the stress divided by the strain per unit area, E = [2dy/(dA/A). The greater the value of E, the greater the ability of the film to withstand shocks on thinning. [Pg.281]

By introducing Gibb s elasticity coefficient E, which equals dir/dlnS in Equation 7, one obtains... [Pg.276]

Boussinesq number concentration diffusivity surface diffusivity entering coefficient Gibbs elasticity... [Pg.116]

To illustrate the notation and meaning of the third-order coefficients let us discuss the electric Enthalpy H2 (6.16) and the electric Gibbs function G2 (6.17). With Ek and Vab as independent variables they are important for experiments involving elastic waves arrd vibrations. [Pg.107]
