Elastic glazing compounds

Vegetable oils are used as the binder for putties, elastic glazing compounds, and architectural caulking compounds.

Elastic Glazing Compounds. Based on blown soya or linseed oils, these materials are formulated with selected calcium carbonates and fibrous fillers plus small amounts of fatty acids for easy working properties (knifing) on large glazing installations. Most of these materials are used in industrial and commercial construction and maintenance.

A pottery glaze is a mixture of chemical compounds. When the glaze is heated, chemical changes take place. As a potter works with clay, the clay properties (its elasticity, its color, its texture) change as chemical changes take place within the clay structure. 

Direct glazing is a common application in the automotive industry since the polyurethane sealant can perform the important functions of adhesion of glass directly into the metal frame, cope with the vibration and movement and still remain weather tight.
