Elaboration knowledge analysis

Elaboration of the method for the identification of colour compounds by RPLC MS should comprise four steps (1) spectral characterization of reference materials (standards) and subsequent optimization of detection parameters, as well as those of their chromatographic separation (2) analysis of natural dyestuffs used as colouring materials in historical objects (3) analysis of model samples (dyed fibres, paintings) prepared according to old recipes (4) application of the acquired knowledge to identification of colourants present in historical objects. 

Further elucidation of specific ion-water interaction will probably not be forthcoming from more elaborate electrostatic calculations than have been used hitherto. As our knowledge of the structure of solutions becomes greater through the increased use of spectroscopic techniques such as n.m.r. and i.r. and isotopic studies, detailed statistical-mechanical analysis will probably lead to much more sophisticated derivations of thermodynamic functions for these systems which involve fluctuating association equilibria. 

This chapter discusses the history and present state of chemotaxonomy in view of our knowledge of the molecular phylogeny of plants. In the second part of this chapter, the possible evolution of secondary metabolism will be elaborated (for a review, see Wink, 2003, 2007). This analysis helps to understand the discrepancies between chemotaxonomy and molecular phylogeny (for a review, see Wink, 2008). 

On the other hand, I have not attempted any refined analysis of conceptions such as probability, or statistical equilibrium, since these are not difficult to have a working knowledge of, though purists could subject to harassing criticism almost any treatment save a very elaborate one. Excessively detailed analysis however, would have obscured the general plan which I was anxious to try and depict.
