EcoRl sequence

Several unique recognition sequences in pBR322 (Pstl, EcoRl, BamHl, Sail, PvulI) are targets for different restriction endonucleases, providing sites where the plasmid can later be cut to insert foreign DNA. [Pg.311]

Restriction enzymes are bacterial enzymes that "cut" the sugar-phosphate backbone of DNA molecules at specific nucleotide sequences.
