This is similar to that reported for other helminths (767) and there is no reason to believe that the genome size of other cestodes will vary significantly from this value. The renaturation of DNA from H. diminuta compared with that of the planarian Dugesia tigrina is shown in Fig. 6.13. The free-living flatworm DNA renatured faster, thereby indicating that the tapeworm is the more complex organism.
