Drug targeting index

Hunt et al. [6] also introduced the Drug Targeting Index, which was defined as the ratio of drug delivered to the target and toxicity sites when the drug-carrier conjugate is administered, divided by the same ratio when the active drug is administered intravenously and is formulated as follows. 

TEF, as defined here, represents the same ratio as a drug-targeting index used in a theoretical pharmacokinetic treatment (362).

Drug targeting with MAbs has always been a fascinating theoretical approach to the rational treatment of acquired diseases such as cancer, according to the concept of Magic Bullets - a term created by Paul Ehrlich who suggested the couphng of toxic natural compounds to specific vectors that are able to find their way to the disease and thereby increase the pharmaceutical index [104].
