DREAM experiment

Between the time I went to sleep and the time I woke up my consciousness had somehow been reactivated, but it had also been radically altered. Because of these radical alterations, I was unable to connect my dream experience to my current whereabouts or even to recognize the bizarre content as a dream. 

So dreaming can be a good trip (ecstatic elation as in my second ski run is not uncommon) or a bad trip (with negative emotions like anxiety, fear, and anger always popping up). This means that dreaming is both heaven and hell (or that heaven and hell are virtual realities that are fabricated by us to mirror the virtual reality of our dream experiences). This... 

The combination of homonuclear Hartmann-Hahn transfer with homonuclear double- or zero-quantum spectroscopy yields the so-called DREAM experiment (double-quantum relay enhancement by adiabatic mixing Berthault and Perly, 1989) and the zero-quantum-(ZQ) TOCSY experiment (Kessler et al., 1990a), respectively. The concept of chemical neurotransmission originated in the 1920s with the classic experiments of Otto Loewi (which were themselves inspired by a dream), who demonstrated that by transferring the ventricular fluid of a stimulated frog heart onto an unstimulated frog heart he could reproduce the effects of a (parasympathetic) nerve stimulus on the unstimulated heart (Loewi Navratil, 1926). Subsequently, it was found that acetylcholine was the neurotransmitter released from these parasympathetic nerve fibers. As well as playing a critical role in synaptic transmission in the autonomic nervous system and at vertebrate neuromuscular junctions (Dale, 1935), acetylcholine plays a central role in the control of wakefulness and REM sleep. Some have even gone as far as to call acetylcholine a neurotransmitter correlate of consciousness (Perry et al., 1999). 

It is by the thought-building quality of consciousness that humans formulate and perceive their own unique world. Each perception of the universe is ultimately subjective. Although consensual reality is a strong determinant, there is also an element of mass hysteria in our reactions to experience, as well as an element of mass hypnosis in our perceptions. We, and the worlds we construct, are the stuff of dreams, as Shakespeare put it. We mold this stuff of dreams using our mental...
