The drag-plate apron conveyor is usually equipped with side plates 150 mm or 200 mm in height. Recommended speeds are between 0.1 and 0.3 m/second. The attainable handling rates can be taken from Table 16 simply by halving the values for the side plate heights of 300 mm and 400 mm respectively, except that if decidedly coarse material is to be handled (300—500 mm particle size), a much smaller reduction need be applied about 20%.
