If the Lyapunov value h 0 here, then the associated double fixed point corresponds to a double (semi-stable) limit cycle of the original system. 

This eliminates the vapor space but sealing the edge can be a problem. Double seals can help and sometimes a fixed roof is also added above the floating roof to help capture any leaks from the seal. However in this case, the space between the fixed and floating roof now breathes and an inert gas purge of this space would typically be used. The inert gas would be vented to atmosphere after treatment. 

This method follows the ASTM D 1159 and D 2710 procedures and the AFNOR M 07-017 standard. It exploits the capacity of the double olefinic bond to attach two bromine atoms by the addition reaction. Expressed as grams of fixed bromine per hundred grams of sample, the bromine number, BrN, enables the calculation of olefinic hydrocarbons to be made if the average molecular weight of a sufficiently narrow cut is known. 

However, the descriptors cannot be considered independently as there is no free rotation around the double bond, In order to take account of this rigidity, the descriptors of the two units have to be multiplied to fix a descriptor of the complete stereoisomer. 

The addition of large enolate synthons to cyclohexenone derivatives via Michael addition leads to equatorial substitution. If the cyclohexenone conformation is fixed, e.g. as in decalones or steroids, the addition is highly stereoselective. This is also the case with the S-addition to conjugated dienones (Y. Abe, 1956). Large substituents at C-4 of cyclic a -synthons direct incoming carbanions to the /rans-position at C-3 (A.R. Battersby, 1960). The thermodynamically most stable products are formed in these cases, because the addition of 1,3-dioxo compounds to activated double bonds is essentially reversible. 

Figure 9.22 illustrates how a CARS experiment might be carried out. In order to vary (vj — V2) in Equation (9.18) one laser wavenumber, Vj, is fixed and V2 is varied. Here, Vj is frequency-doubled Nd YAG laser radiation at 532 nm, and the V2 radiation is that of a dye laser which is pumped by the same Nd YAG laser. The two laser beams are focused with a lens L into the sample cell C making a small angle 2a with each other. The collimated CARS radiation emerges at an angle 3 a to the optic axis, is spatially filtered from Vj and V2...

Figure 9-5 shows the fall in book value with time for a piece of equipment having a fixed-capital cost of 120,000, a useful hfe of 10 years, and a scrap value of 20,000. This fall in value is calculated by using (I) straight-line depreciation, (2) double-declining depreciation, and (3) sum-of-years-digits depreciation.
