Double dressing

The rate of spread of first-layer chippings is such to achieve 95% shoulder-to-shoulder coverage, and that of the second is such to achieve 100%-105% shoulder-to-shoulder coverage as measured by CEN EN 12272-1 (2002).

Double dressing (Figure 15.23c) refers to successive laying of a first layer of binder and a first layer of chippings followed by a second layer of binder and a second layer of chippings, the second layer of chippings being of a smaller size. 

Finally, in inverted double dressing, the size of the first-layer chippings is usually 2.8/6.3 mm.

In the case of double dressing, steps (b) to (d) are repeated after single dressing is applied. 

In the case of inverted double dressing, the procedure is the same as for double surface dressing but the first layer of chippings consists of small-size aggregate.

Thus, both the resonance mode at k = Q, and the excitations at incommensurate Q 2q, are double-svivon excitations, around its energy minimum at ko, shown in Fig. 3. These are excitations towards the destruction of the stripelike inhomogeneities their width determines the speed of the inhomogeneities dynamics, and they exist for stoichiometries where SC exists [21]. Because of the lattice dressing of svivons, these double-svivon excitations are expected to be lattice-dressed spin excitations, and indeed, Cu-0 optical phonon modes have been found to be involved in such excitations [25],...
