Dopants fullerene

Fullerene containing systems are also of interest and have been covered in some detail in terms of applications and properties." Strong photoenergy transfer has been observed between pendant fullerene groups in PPV copolymers and main chain chromophores, especially at low temperatures." In PPV/fullerene composite films, an increase in the substituted side-chain length has been found to lower the energy of the emission bands while the fullerene dopant also quenched the emissions. In this way the electronic affinity of the PPVs can be controlled." Conjugated polyelectrolytes also have applications as fluorescent sensors." ... [Pg.224]

Fullerene, Ceo, is quite an effective dopant. It is an excellent electron acceptor, capable of accepting up to six electrons. Photoinduced electron transfer from conducting polymers such as poly(3-octylthiophene), P30T, and poly[2-methoxy-5-(2 -ethylhexyloxy)-p-phenylene vinylene], MEH-PPV, to fullerene Ceo occurs on a timescale of less than 1 ps. A Ceo content of a few percent is sufficient to enhance 0CC in tbc ps time domain by more than an order of magnitude [56]. [Pg.69]

Boron nitride fullerenes can be doped with transition metal atoms. Interestingly, the doped BN fullerenes have the same magnetic moment as the isolated dopants (Batista et al., 2007). [Pg.452]
