Discontinuation of dopamine agonist therapy may cause dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome, a severe, stereotyped cluster of physical and psychological symptoms that temporally correlate with dopamine agonist withdrawal and are refractory to levodopa and other neuropsychiatric medications. The withdrawal syndrome has only been reported in Parkinson s disease. Thus, it has been xmclear whether the withdrawal syndrome is specific to Parkinson s disease. A case in a patient with restless legs syndrome is presented for the first time. 

Musculoskeletal Malignant syndrome, a disorder thought to be caused by dopamine receptor blockade, causes fever, rigidity, and altered mental status. This disorder is typically caused by antipsychotic medications or abrupt withdrawal of dopamine agonists. It could be rather difficult to decrease the dose at an appropriate pace to avoid malignant s5mdrome.
