The same publication also describes the investigation of the photopolymerization of 2,5-distyryl pyrazine (DSP) as an example of the four-center type polymerization of diolehnes. This reaction produces a highly crystalline polymer.

Subsequently two important and exciting studies were reported by Hasegawa [21] in Japan and by Wegner [22] in Germany. The Japanese group investigated the solid-state photopolymerization of distyryl pyrazine (Scheme 2).
