Dissolution of Grease

Material Test tubes, scales gasoline, olive oil, solution of olive oil in gasoline (greasy solution), filter paper. 

Procedure (a) First weigh some drops of oil and a few ml of gasoline. Dissolve the oil in the portion of gasoline and weigh again, (b) Place a few drops of gasoline on a filter paper and at the same time a few drops of the greasy solution on another paper. Observe both papers carefully. 

Observation (a) The masses remain the same before and after dissolving, (b) The stain from the pure gasoline becomes smaller and smaller until it can no longer be seen. The other stain also gets smaller but a clear grease stain remains on the paper.
