Dispensing procedure

Standard operating procedures have existed for the dispensing supply process in their current form since January 2005. They were put in place to ensure clinical governance of the dispensing procedure. Clinical governance is the term used in the NHS and private healthcare system to describe a systematic approach to maintaining and improving the quality of patient care. [Pg.6]

The list above covers the basic dispensing procedure and each stage will require a standard operating procedure. Figure 1.1 shows an example of a standard operating procedure for the reception of a prescription form within a community pharmacy. [Pg.8]

This chapter has taken the concepts covered in Chapter 2 and has used them to discuss the points it is necessary to become familiar with in order to supply medication via an NHS prescription form in the community. This includes details on the different prescribers who prescribe on NHS prescription forms, a discussion of the general dispensing procedure for NHS prescriptions in the community and information on the... [Pg.94]

The dispensing procedure for non-NHS (private) prescriptions is similar to the dispensing procedure followed with NHS prescriptions (see Section 3.3). The main differences are that in most cases, an entry detailing the supply will always need to be made in the prescription-only medicines register (see Section 5.1.4) and that the pharmacist or pharmacy technician will not need to check that the item is allowed on the NHS. In summary, the procedure to be followed is as follows ... [Pg.122]

A different observation was reported by Cansoy [24] who showed that the measured contact angles for water on several microtextured superhydrophobic surfaces are insensitive to the drop size ranging from 0.5-19 pL. There may be multiple causes for the observation, such as dispensing procedure, extraction of baseline from the drop profile or drop shape analysis. The discrepancy between the Cansoy observation and early work may be resolved if details of the dispensing procedure is provided and images of the sessile droplets and procedure for the drop shape analysis are reported. [Pg.15]
