Energy Consumption of Washing Machines, Dryers and Dish Washers in Europe, Final Report, European Energy Network, 1955. [Pg.228]

In the longer term, ALMA (the Atacama Large Millimetre Array) will take over from FIRST. This will be a huge network of 96 radio dishes extending over an area of 10000 m. Its detectors will cover the frequency band from 70 to 950 GHz. Sponsored by Europe, the United States and Japan, ALMA will be built at an altitude of 5000 m on the Atacama plateau in Chile. [Pg.47]

Yet other methods have been proposed (Fig. 9.6) whereby the CAM vascular networks can be displayed in greater detail, except that the embryo with the extra-embryonic membranes and yolk must be transferred to an in vitro system during the early stages of development (day 3 or 4 of incubation). The system consists of a Petri dish (Auerbach et al., 1974), or an inert plastic container, previously equipped with a parafilm ring (4—5 cm inside depth) to provide a support for the embryo and adnexa (Dugan et al., 1991). The embryo in the petri dish or in the container is then incubated in an humidified CO2 atmosphere at 37°C. This CAM in petri dish, or cracked eggs method is among the most frequently used CAM assays. [Pg.255]

Mw= 100,000) was dissolved in deionized water at 90°C for 5 h. The solution was then cooled to RT. At the same time, a PWA solution was obtained by dissolving the PWA in deionized water. The two PVA and PWA solutions were mixed one by one with the phosphosilicate solution and stirred at RT for 6 h. TEOS (orthoethylsili-cate) was reacted with H2O and C2H5OH (as 0.1 M HCl aqueous solution) under the hydrolysis and condensation reaction of three ethoxy groups to produce an Si-O-Si network structure. The hybrid solution was kept in a flask equipped with a stirrer, and slow stirring was maintained at RT for 12 h. The reaction mixture was cast onto clean glass plates or Petri dishes and kept at RT until the membrane was optically dry. The resultant membrane was then peeled off and heated in an oven at 120°C for 24 h. [Pg.375]
