Direct metallization Process issues

Numerous patents have been issued disclosing catalysts and process schemes for manufacture of acrylonitrile from propane. These include the direct heterogeneously cataly2ed ammoxidation of propane to acrylonitrile using mixed metal oxide catalysts (61—64). [Pg.184]

Consequently, the antioxidant activity of GA in biological systems is still an unresolved issue, and therefore it requires a more direct knowledge of the antioxidant capacity of GA that can be obtained by in vitro experiments against different types of oxidant species. The total antioxidant activity of a compound or substance is associated with several processes that include the scavenging of free radical species (eg. HO, ROO ), ability to quench reactive excited states (triplet excited states and/ or oxygen singlet molecular 1O2), and/or sequester of metal ions (Fe2+, Cu2+) to avoid the formation of HO by Fenton type reactions. In the following sections, we will discuss the in vitro antioxidant capacity of GA for some of these processes. [Pg.11]

The metallic or semi-metallic character of many common sulfides implies the significance of electrochemical factors in the study of their oxidation, which is relevant to environmental, energy, and metallurgical issues, e.g., in connection with the direct electrochemical conversion of sulfide ores to metals, the pressure leaching of ore materials, or flotation processes. [Pg.261]

Homogeneous catalysis by transition metal complexes almost always involves processes in which product-catalyst separation and catalyst recycling are important issues. For years, researchers have worked to find effective ways to isolate metal-complex catalysts in phases separate from those containing the catalyst, usually by anchoring the metal complex to a solid surface. As summarized by Driessen-Holscher, it is now evident that the method that has met with most practical success in this direction involves the use of multiple liquid phases. For example, rhodium complexes with water-soluble sulfonated ligands are used to catalyze alkene hydroformyla-tion, and the aqueous-phase catalyst and the organic products are easily separated as insoluble liquid phases. [Pg.533]
