Other more prominent process for production of resorcinol is through alkylation of benzene using propylene in such as a way that alkylation is done carefully to introduce isopropyl in 1 and 3 position, i.e., diisopropyl benzene which is then converted to resorcinol using a similar process of phenol from isopropyl benzene or cresols from iosopropyl toluene.
