The elastomers based on vinylidene fluoride are saturated and cannot be vulcanized with sulphur. As with other saturated rubbers cross-linking can be brought about by irradiation and by the use of peroxides but the only agents of commercial importance until the 1970s were diamines and certain of their derivatives. Of particular importance have been the amine carbamates which are somewhat less reactive and less likely to scorch (premature vulcanization) during processing. Typical materials of this class are ethylene diamine carbamate (IX), hexamethylene diamine carbamate (X) and N,N -dicinnamylidene-1,6-hexane diamine (XI) ... 

A Viton-HV poly(VDF-co-HFP) copolymer with a molar percentage of HFP of 28.5%, in the presence of 5 parts of MgO per hundred parts of rubber (phr), was vulcanized with different phr of Diak No3 (Ar,M -dicinnamylidene-l,6-hexanediamine) [27].

Kalfayan [118] and Thomas [24] studied the stress relaxation of poly(VDF-ter-HFP-ter-TFE) terpolymers crosslinked with N,N -dicinnamylidene-l,6-hexanediamine, and of a poly(VDF-co-HFP) copolymer crosslinked with HMDA-C, respectively. 

Other mechanical properties and resistance to bases and to acids are studied for a poly(TFE-alt-P) elastomer cured with a peroxide (o, Q -bis-(t-butylperoxy)-p-diisopropylbenzene), and a poly(VDF-ter-HFP-ter-TFE) ter-polymer cured with a diamine (NyN dicinnamylidene-l,6-hexanediamine) (Table 24) [39].
