Dicarboxylic monoamides

Bis-acylchloride 283 can be hydrolyzed under mild conditions to the corresponding dicarboxylic acid 309, which when treated with amines gave monoamides 310. The corresponding imidazolediamides 311 were prepared when the bis-acylchloride was directly treated with the amines (Scheme 76) (84SC251). 

This enzyme [EC 3.5.1.3] catalyzes the hydrolysis of a monoamide of a dicarboxylic acid to generate a dicarbox-ylate and ammonia. The enzyme can utilize as a substrate glutaramate, succinamate, and their corresponding 2-keto derivatives. 

The monoamides of dicarboxylic acids, HOOC(CH2) CONH2 (n = 2, 3), form cyclic imides on heating. 

Monoesters of symmetric dicarboxylic acids can be prepared either by monoesterification of a diacid [1] or by monosaponification of a diester. Dicarboxylic acids which can form five- or six-membered cyclic anhydrides are readily transformed into monoesters via these intermediates, but for diacids which cannot be converted into such cyclic anhydrides monosaponification of diesters seems to be more reliable than selective monoesterification. Monoesters or monoamides of succinic, maleic, glutaric, or related diacids can be rather unstable, because of the dose proximity of a carboxyl group (see Section 3.3). 

Just as homoannular ferroeenedicarboxylic acid leads to a cyclic anhydride (23), so does the heteroannular ferroeenedicarboxylic acid. Thus treatment of the dichloride of ferrocene-l,l -dicarboxylic acid with water in chloroform-pyridine gave the anhydride (34).21 Treatment of 34 with ammonium hydroxide led to ring opening and formation of the diamide and the monoamide-monoacid.21...

The dilithium compound reacts with carbon dioxide, and an acid is added to afford a dicarboxylic acid. The dicarboxylic acid reacts with CICOCOCI to afford two acid chlorides. The two acid chlorides are easily condensed with diamino compounds to afford the bridged compound. The reaction with monoamine yields simply diamide. The amide is reduced with LiAIH4 to afford a diamino derivative. If a monolithium compound is used as the starting material, these products are the monoamide and monoamine, respectively. By using these reaction, various kinds of ferrocene derivatives such as crownethers and sulfur-containing compounds have been synthesized [72—76].
