J. C. Cain and F. Nicoll [/. Chem. Soc., 81, 1412 (1902)] have monitored the kinetics of the irreversible decomposition of lOg of the chloride of diazobenzene in aqueous solution by measuring the volume of gaseous nitrogen released. 

Griess, by the action of two molecules of aniline on one of nitrous acid, obtained explosive diazoaminobenzene. With concentrated hydrochloric acid it gave nitrogen and equimolecular amounts of aniline and chlorobenzene, and the amount of nitrogen evolved on warming with dilute acid corresponded with a molecular compound of diazobenzene and aniline, the former under- going decomposition.
