Diaziridine derivatives, from tetrazoles

Diaziridine derivatives (42) can be obtained from tetrazoles of type (41). 

Elimination of N2 from 1,4-disubstituted tetrazole derivatives (76) leads to substituted diaziridine compounds of type (77) and a number of synthetic applications of this general reaction have been developed recently. Photolysis of A -tetrazolines such as (78) in dichloromethane gave a ready elimination of nitrogen and 60-70% yields of 1,2,3-trisub-stituted diaziridines of type (79) (74CL185).
