P.Y.193 produces dull reddish yellow shades. In printing inks the tinctorial strength is extremely weak. Thus, in offset printing inks it exhibits only about half of the tinctorial strength of the weak P.Y.191 in a distinctly redder shade and compared with the diarylide pigment P.Y.83, it produces only about a sixth of the strength. [Pg.508]

One area which requires special comment is a study (13) which showed that certain diarylide pigments processed in polymers above 200°C and particularly above 240°C decompose to give off 3,3 -dichlorobenzidine, an animal carcinogen. As a consequence diarylide pigments (not, however, condensation disazo pigments) are not recommended for use in any applications where they might be exposed to temperatures exceeding 200°C. [Pg.37]
