Our new measurements within the temperature range 4.2 to 300 K shows that Pu(C0T)2 is temperature independent paramagnetic, Fig. 5. In this communication we report on the analytical expressions for the first-order diamagnetic corrections to the matrix elements of radiative dipole transitions, determining the field dependence of the line intensities. Some of the backgrounds and basic aspects of the work may be found in [9].

Use of Eq. (4) predicts an electronegativity of 1.76 for the Ir(PEt3)a moiety in/ac-[IrMe3(PEt3)3], which is not too unreasonable. A similar equation has been found for ethyl derivatives. It has recently been suggested that it is best to make a diamagnetic correction before making... 

General All starting materials were of analytical grade. Elemental analyses (C, H, N) were performed on a Perkin-Elmer 240 analyser. IR spectra were recorded on a Shimadzu IR-408 spectrometer as KBr pellets. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities were measured on a Quantum Design MPMS-7 SQUID magnetometer. Diamagnetic corrections were made with Pascal s constants for all the constituent atoms. 

If a straight line that intercepts the positive xm axis at r = 0 is obtained, then it is possible that temperature-independent paramagnetism (see below) is present, or alternatively, that the diamagnetic correction has been overestimated. If the straight hne intercepts the negative xm axis at T = 0, it is hkely that the diamagnetic correction has been underestimated.

X 10 emu/g at 273K) as a standard temperatures were measured with a Ga-As diode. The core diamagnetic correction was not applied to these measurements because of the large uncertainty in the magnitude of the correction relative to the susceptibility of the materials studied. 

However they are measured, the data are manipulated (with knowledge of the molar weight, and estimations of diamagnetic corrections for sample and holder) to give M, which is determined as a function of T and/or H. 

With an improved diamagnetic correction (cf. Section 4.1.) to the published susceptibility data (215), the Weiss constant of (NH ZnNiWiiC oHa 15HgO is reduced from 32 K to 13—14 K (176).
