Dexamethasone drug class

When PONV occurs in a patient who did not receive prophylaxis or who only received prophylactic dexamethasone, treatment with a SSRI is indicated. Typical adult treatment doses of SSRIs are as follows dolasetron 12.5 mg, granisetron 0.1 mg, and ondansetron 1 mg." If prophylaxis with a SSRI is not protective, a treatment dose of a SSRI is not recommended within the first 6 hours after surgery due to lack of proven efficacy."
