Development research teamwork

Because the framework of every clinical research study relies on a number of interdependent disciplines, the development of a clinical study protocol is ideally a multidisciplinary task. Chemists participating in a narrowly defined, initial development campaign engage in teamwork more than their colleagues in medicinal chemistry. As a result of this and other factors, individual contributions can be more difficult to quantify than in discovery research. Process chemists are partly judged by how completely and promptly they carry out assigned tasks that represent important elements of the whole effort. 

Several examples of this approach are detailed below. These represent products for which teamwork has been initiated between the manufacturer s sourcing department and its research and development department on the one hand and the raw material supplier on the other hand.
