To increase the safety of such transport, detonation breakers can be introduced along its flow path. An example of a detonation breaker is shown in Fig 29 which consists of a lead tank half-filled with water. NG flows into the tank, collects on the bottom and runs on from below thru the siphon. This arrangement interrupts the NG stream. Detonation cannot be transferred readily thru the water barrier... 

Some designs of hydraulic (liquid seal) flame arresters have been sric-cesshilly tested for hydrogen service. NAO has designed and snccessfully tested and provided a hydraulic flame arrester for hydrogen-air applications (Straitz 1999). About 10 30 in the morning, April 20th, I wandered outside the plant and over to where I had stashed the plug-in. Before plugging in the extension cord I checked the circuit breaker in the block house to ensure it was in the OFF position. Then I plugged in the detonation cord and went back into the block house and shut the steel door tight. .. I wanted to make sure I did not blow up in the explosion.
