DETERMINATION OF SINGLE VALUE PHYSICAL CONSTANTS OF SOIL BY KEEN RACZ KOWSKI BOX MEASUREMENT 

The following soil physical characteristics are observed in this experiment  

KEEN BOX, brass box (5cm diameter and height 1.6 cm approx.) with a perforated base just large enough in diameter to allow the cylinder to fit as tightly as possible. 

Weight of Keen box plus filter paper = a g Weight of box plus filter paper plus air dry soil = 6 g Weight of box with wet saturated soil = c g 

Weight of box with wet residual soil, after removal of the wet expanded soil = (i g Weight of box and the residual wet soil after drying at 105°C = e g Weight of watch glass = / g
